Josh Johnston - COO

Josh Johnston

Founder & COO

Josh Johnston is co-founder and COO of Sturgeon Energy Corp. His roles include overseeing the operational management and strategic initiatives of the company, collaborating with Brian Webster to ensure the successful development of sustainable energy solutions. 

 

Josh has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fish and Wildlife Ecology from Northeastern State University and a Master’s Degree in Natural Resource Ecology and Management from Oklahoma State University. Josh spent nearly 20 years as a Fisheries Biologist with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, where he led multiple research projects, managed fish populations in lakes, rivers and streams, and guided statutory changes to promote sustainability and species diversity. Following his career with the Department of Wildlife, Josh accepted an executive leadership position with Viatrax Automation Corporation, a telematics company, where he acted as COO. His main project at Viatrax was Vessel Monitoring Systems, where he worked closely with state and federal policy makers to ensure sustainability in multiple federally permitted fisheries including American Lobster, Dungeness Crab, and Gulf Shrimp. 

 

Josh is skilled in project and team management, data analysis, and environmental strategy. He believes in the importance of high-level communication to drive progress and efficiency. Josh is excited to continue down the path toward environmental sustainability with Sturgeon Energy Corp.

Brian Webster - CEO

Brian Webster

Founder & CEO

Brian Webster is co-founder and CEO of Sturgeon Energy Corp. His roles include driving the company's mission to develop sustainable energy solutions and contributing to a greener and more equitable world, working closely with Josh Johnston on strategic initiatives. 

 

Brian has extensive experience in founding and leading technology and engineering-focused companies. In 2006, he co-founded Rubicite Interactive, where he served as CEO and lead engineer. Rubicite managed IT, software development, and e-commerce for Church Hill Classics, significantly contributing to its growth as a leading manufacturer and seller of diploma frames. In 2017, Brian transitioned to Viatrax Automation Corporation as CTO, where he focused on improving product quality, scaling IT infrastructure, and growing e-commerce sales. Under his leadership, Viatrax's Amazon.com sales grew exponentially, from negligible in 2017 to over 26,000 units sold annually by 2022. 

 

Brian is skilled in full stack engineering, IT infrastructure management, e-commerce strategy, market analysis, and business development. He believes in the importance of a cohesive team and rapid feedback iterations for continuous improvement and faster progress. Brian is dedicated to environmental sustainability and is excited to lead Sturgeon Energy Corp in achieving its mission of adding 1 gigawatt of storage-backed solar power to the grid.
